Samsung Galaxy A6 (2018)
Design & Build
The Samsung Galaxy A6 (2018) sports a sleek, premium full-metal unibody design that gives it a refined and durable feel. Measuring 149.9 x 70.8 x 7.7 mm and weighing 162 grams, the phone feels slim and solid in the hand. The rear houses a vertically aligned camera module with a fingerprint scanner placed just below it for easy access.
Display
The A6 (2018) features a 5.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 720 x 1480 pixels. The vibrant AMOLED panel delivers sharp contrast and deep blacks, making it great for multimedia consumption, even though the resolution falls short of Full HD.
Performance
Powering the Galaxy A6 is the Exynos 7870 Octa-core processor, built on a 14nm process and clocked at 1.6 GHz. It is paired with 3GB or 4GB of RAM and offers either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD card up to 256GB. The device handles day-to-day tasks like browsing, social media, and light gaming smoothly but may lag with more demanding applications.
Cameras
On the rear, the A6 (2018) has a 16MP camera with an f/1.7 aperture, LED flash, and PDAF, which performs well in various lighting conditions. The front also features a 16MP selfie camera with a f/1.9 aperture and its own LED flash, making it ideal for selfies even in low light. The camera app includes beauty modes, bokeh effects, and sticker overlays for fun customization.
Battery Life
The phone packs a non-removable 3000mAh battery, which, combined with the power-efficient processor and AMOLED screen, can last a full day on moderate use. However, it lacks fast charging and uses a microUSB port for charging.
Software
The Galaxy A6 (2018) shipped with Android 8.0 Oreo and is upgradable to Android 10 with Samsung's One UI. The software includes useful features like App Pair, Multi-Window support, Bixby Home (no Bixby Voice), and Samsung’s security-focused Secure Folder.
