Oppo

Oppo is a prominent Chinese consumer electronics company, founded in 2004 by Tony Chen and headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong, under the umbrella of BBK Electronics, which also owns OnePlus and Realme. Initially launched with the brand registered in 2001, Oppo began with MP3 players and Blu-ray devices before entering the smartphone market in 2008 with the Smile Phone, gaining traction globally with its innovative camera technology and stylish designs. Today, it holds approximately 9% of the global smartphone market, serving over 600 million monthly active users across more than 60 countries, and ranks among the top three brands in 20 regional markets. Known for its fast-charging VOOC technology, advanced camera systems, and the ColorOS interface, Oppo has expanded into smartwatches (e.g., Oppo Watch series) and other smart devices, with a strong presence in India, China, and Europe, bolstered by strategic partnerships like its sponsorship of the India cricket team and French Open. With over 40,000 employees and significant investments in R&D, Oppo continues to innovate, though it faced scrutiny in 2025 for preinstalling unremovable loan apps on some devices, prompting a policy reversal.
